Don’t Call My Name, Roberto

Robbie / Pencil drawing in progress

I’ve been walking my doofus dog every chance I get when it’s not raining. It hasn’t been as bad as forecasted, but if you didn’t know Portland pisses down rain around the clock in the winter. Robbie finds a stick and carries it the whole time when we walk. Oral fixation I guess. Walking relaxes me, gets me out of my studio, and helps me think more objectively about my workday. Cooking and baking also keeps me sane. I kinda want to write a cookbook for rookies.

I finally scheduled out the next 10 weeks which are pretty full-on. I’ve got so much work to do and little margin for error. I like working like this though. I think I’m gonna go at half speed on the weekend so I don’t host bitchapalooza 2010 at my house. I’m excited about going to Chicago in April. The only time I went, it was so cold my snot froze in my mustache. Still one of the best times of my life (what a stupid thing to say, but seriously).

More updates soon. XOXO

Hey guys, I know I’m really bad at posting. I want to post more about the details of my fascinating life rather than just re-barfing content half diarrhea-ed all over the blogosphere. I need a new camera and some other lame excuses. I guess I’m lazy and just blaming it on a full workload. I also get sick of taking photos with my shitty iPhone or a cheap digital camera. I am out of Polaroid instant film, and $3 per shot on eBay is ridonko. Will someone buy me an instant back for my Diana? This one please:

I’ve mostly been hard at work getting ready for my next solo show in Chicago. I’m weirdly comfortable when I have a frenzy inducing amount of work. I guess I like having a reason not to sleep. I hate sleep and wish I didn’t need it. Roberto feels differently.

Roberto

Multi-tasking is like way hard you guys.

Sookie La La sculpt

Check out the sculpt for my new toy Sookie La La which is about to be molded. I haven’t 100% figured out the release details, but if the molding goes well, he will be available by the end of the month. Though he’s been through quite an evolution, Mr. La La was the first character I developed under Hello, Brute back in 2005. He was made into a few different plush forms in 2006, and now he’s making his debut in resin. Keep your eyes peeled for more details in the next week.

I’m Home

| January 8th, 2010

Hi everyone, I hope you guys had a great holiday. I am back in the studio full-time now. Since I’ve been away, I’ve confirmed my next solo show which will be at Rotofugi in Chicago. It opens on April 9th (2010). As always I will keep you guys up to date. There are new toy releases in the works, and the second wave of Charlie figures will be available this month for those of you that missed out on the first go.

I’m finishing the remainder of the outstanding orders, so thank you for your patience if you’re waiting on a package from Hello, Brute.

There’s a lot in the books for 2010, so be sure to keep checking in for surprises. You guys are the best! Take care.

xoxo,
Jon Knox
