The second issue of my new zine Boy Germs is now available in my shop. Like issue #1, these are all printed in my studio and bound by hand. I still have a few copies left of issue #1, which is also available at Domy Books in Austin. Visit my shop for more images.

1-color Press

My New Press is Here!

| May 1st, 2009

It looks a little janky now cos it’s not assembled, but it will be much sturdier than my last setup. Just 1-color for now. Plus I took the opportunity to educate myself further on discharge inks so Hello, Brute will have super nice and soft shirts now. Woooooo. Got new shirt designs ready to go. Hopefully the first few will be available in May. June at the latest.

Boy Germs?

I’m starting a zine. Here’s a preview. Haven’t 100% decided on the title. More info soon.

Day in the ‘burbs

Okay, so I did more (half-assed) shopping today while waiting to hear back if we’ve gotten the house in Portland. Just wandering around the suburbs actually. I bought a shitload of jeans for $15 a pair, and they fit reaaal nicely. I guess the mainstream are sick of skinny jeans already, so they’re all going on super sale. I am skinny and skinny jeans look best on me, so I will probably be wearing them for years to come. So if you’re into ‘em, now’s the time to be searching around for new pairs cos the stores are gonna be stocking the new season and putting a buncha shit on sale.

Hand Job

I bought a couple of books at Powell’s Books today. Hand Job by Mike Perry is my favorite. Anyone that knows me knows I love me some hand-drawn lettering and I think he did a great job with the book. My buddy Travis has a few pages of work in there as well. Normally I like to buy directly from the artist/author/designer if possible, but this was a bit of an impulse buy. Buy the book from Mike’s store here. I still need to get his book of hand-drawn patterns called Over & Over, I just need to reign in the spending before moving. He has cool zines and stuff for sale too. I’ve been trying to do a zine for years, but it always falls to the wayside. Once I’m in my new studio, it’s likely I’ll get around to it.

Other than that, I’m dying to get back home and get back to work. It’s really difficult leaving projects you’re right in the middle of. Hopefully everything goes well, and I’ll be back in San Francisco tomorrow night. Wish me more luck!

And speaking of Keith Haring, I reaaaaaally want the new book published by Rizzoli. I saw it in SF MOMA, and it rocks. You can buy it for me here.
